Application Procedures
NU encourages all men and women whose aptitude and demonstrated achievement in high school or college give evidence of their ability to successfully complete the various university programs to apply for admission.
When to Apply
Prospective freshmen applying for the fall semester should make application early in their senior year. The deadline for the fall semester is Aug. 1. The application deadline for the spring semester is Jan. 10.

Applications can be accessed on-line at the Office of Admissions website.
Freshman Applicants
- Complete Niagara’s online application or the Common Application at www.commonapp.org
- Request that your high school academic record and principal’s or counselor’s recommendation be forwarded electronically or via mail to the:

Niagara University, N.Y. 14109-2011 - If applicable, submit the results of your standardized tests (SAT and/or ACT). If these are not part of your transcript, make arrangements to have them forwarded to NU.
- Transmit online or submit under separate cover an essay (250 words minimum) or a graded paper. Refer to part one of the application for essay topics.
- No fee for online Niagara University applications.
Home-Schooled Applicants
Niagara University welcomes applications from home-schooled students. Submission of the SAT or ACT scores, an essay or graded paper, a transcript or portfolio documenting performance in secondary school courses (see entrance requirements for course guidelines) and other pertinent curriculum information are required.
Students must also obtain a letter from their superintendent or local school district official confirming that the student has received an education “substantially equivalent” to instruction given to students graduating from the public high school in that district.
Transfer Applicants and Postgraduates
- Complete Niagara’s online application or the Common Application at www.commonapp.org
- Make arrangements to have an official copy of your high school transcript and, if appropriate, an official copy of your high school equivalency test results (GED records) forwarded directly to the Office of Admissions.
- Request that an official transcript from each college you have attended be forwarded directly to the admissions office.
