Criminal Justice, B.S./M.S. - Accelerated 4+1

Undergraduate Criminology and Criminal Justice majors with a 3.2 GPA or above may apply and be admitted into the accelerated 4+1 Criminal Justice Administration master’s degree program. The 4+1 master’s program allows eligible students to earn their master’s degree in five years (i.e., four years for a bachelor’s degree & one year to complete the master’s degree). Eligible seniors may take a total of three graduate courses (9 credit hours), most often taking one course in the fall semester and two courses in the spring semester. The three graduate courses will count towards the student’s undergraduate degree in Criminology & Criminal Justice as well as the graduate degree in Criminal Justice Administration.

After graduation, students in the 4+1 master’s program take the remaining 24 credits during their fifth year to earn a master’s degree. For students who decide not to continue on after undergraduate graduation, the nine credits remain on their Niagara University transcript as graduate credit.

Eligible students typically apply during the second semester of their junior year or as a rising senior. Students who want to apply for the accelerated 4+1 master’s program must submit an ‘entrance request form’ available on the Niagara University website.
