Campus Safety

The Campus Safety Department operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To report emergencies or suspicious activity, call 716.286.8111, or use the emergency blue light phones on the campus. The department is primarily responsible for enforcement of university policies which ensure good order on the campus, as well as regulating traffic and parking control. The department also provides general information and safety assistance to the campus community. Located in the campus safety building across from Dwyer Arena, the office also may be contacted at safety@niagara.edu.

Campus Safety personnel perform vehicle patrols, building and grounds security rounds, and residence hall patrols to monitor for suspicious activity and safety hazards. Other services offered include:

  • personal safety escorts
  • fire safety awareness programs
  • equipment loan
  • lost and found

Individuals are encouraged to report incidents and crimes in a timely manner to the proper authorities. The dean of student affairs or residence hall staff may be consulted prior to filing a report.

Anonymous reports may be filed; refer to the Campus Guide to Safety and Security for details. Campus authorities reserve the right to summon law enforcement agencies for assistance.

Campus Crime Statistics

In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, information regarding campus crime statistics is distributed annually to all students and employees and offered to any person making an inquiry regarding university admission or employment. Statistics are specified for the three preceding calendar years, with terms defined according to the FBI’s National Incident-Based Reporting System. The data reflects all reported incidents occurring on campus, in campus residences, non-campus properties, or public property adjoining the campus. Additionally, the director of campus safety, will provide upon request all campus crime statistics as reported to the United States Department of Education.
