For certified teachers, this 40 credit-hour program leads to an additional initial/professional certification in teaching students with disabilities, grades 1-6. Candidates must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution and existing teaching certificate in either childhood.

Grades 7-12

This 40 credit-hour program leads to initial certification in teaching students with disabilities, grades 7-12. Candidates for the special education, 7-12, generalist program must have a content concentration in one or more of the liberal arts and sciences and six credits in each of English language arts, math, science and social studies. The degree can also be applied to satisfy requirements for professional certification for candidates certified in a grades 7-12 content area.
